Australia “T40” postage due handstamps, New York “DUE 8 CENTS” hs and violet framed “POSTAGE

DUE .....” hs (type not listed in Proud) struck on arrival in British Guiana with ms “08”, cover wear and

roughly opened at top, a very scarce postal marking.

hs, underpaid with postage due notations and 1940-55 2c (5) and 12c (3) postage dues paying 46c, tied

by “REGISTRATION G.P.O.” cds and “AIR MAIL. G.P.O.” arrival on reverse, attractive cover full of character.

1939 (Oct 31) envelope from the Internment Camp in Demerara to Germany, endorsed at top left by

the sender with “Internment Camp / Settlement Mazaruni-River”, with “PASSED BY CENSOR / George

town, British Guiana” cachet at lower left, franked with 1938-52 KGVI 6c tied by George Town cds,

reverse with “Officially opened and resealed / BY CENSOR” tape and oval cachet (larger-type than on

front), scarce, and only two covers known sent from the Camp to Germany.
