1850s correspondence of lengthy entires from Calcutta to Newcastle- Upon-Tyne, all endorsed “Per

overland mail/ via Southampton”, five bear framed red INDIA/PAID handstamps, the other twelve

with framed red INDIA handstamps denoting unpaid and with relevant manuscript rates, one of these

with handstamp variety ‘INDI’ without final ‘A’, (two black ink smudges) all with red framed G.P.O.

handstamps and arrival cancels in black, blue or red; good to fine condition (17).

1859 Meerut to Cardiff franked 1a (2) and 4a black/blue, Too Late handstamp on reverse, 1860 longer

outer letter sheet franked strip of three 4a black, 1864 Simla to London franked no wmk 8p., 2a and

4a,, 1865 1874 internal cover to Calcutta franked 1/2a., 1a. and two pairs 2a tied B1 blue handstamps,

covers with INDIA PAID handstamps, better values and frankings; some slightly mixed condition; a

good lot (58).

Kirkee, 1868 cover franked 8p , 1884 and 1885 9p covers, two 1894 cover from same soldier to same

officer; some mixed condition (9).
