Dear Collector & Client,
It gives us great pleasure to present this auction catalogue of Great Britain and
British Empire which features nearly 1’400 lots and will take place on Monday
8th of December (Great Britain and British Empire up to the end of Mauritius) and
on the morning of Tuesday 9th December (from Morocco Agencies to Zanzibar).
Please note that the Ireland is in a separate specialised catalogue.
The GB which starts at 10am CET (9am in the UK) features Line Engraved imperf.
issues including rarities and important exhibition items, followed by various
perforated Line Engraved, Embossed and Surface Printed issues. The Kings
section has specialised KGV including better shades, then QEII including a range
of modern errors, and finishes with back-of-the-book issues and collections.
The British Empire starts at 2pm CET (1pm in the UK), beginning with general
British Empire collections, and features single-country collections throughout the
catalogue, including particularly attractive collections of the various Australian
States. New Guinea and Papua stamp collectors should find something of interest
and includes the Papua 1930 Airmail inverted overprint. There is strength in British
West Indies, notably British Guiana including a one of the most stunning classic
stamps I’ve ever had the fortune to handle in the Ferrary 1856 4c black on blue.
India is one of the more in-depth sections of this catalogue with a varied range of
pre-stamp postal history and Indian States. We have more classic Mauritius on
offer through to the De La Rue issues, as well as some more Niger Coast. Another
highlight of the auction is the specialised section of the popular Rhodesia Double
Heads in mint blocks. And the Southern Africa areas features a fine range of the
Cape of Good Hope triangulars.
The David Feldman team strives for excellence in the lotting and promotion of
every property entrusted to us, and we’d like to thank all our vendors for showing
their faith in us to present their items and collections in a catalogue worthy of
displaying their philatelic treasures in their best possible light. We wish you
success with your bids and satisfaction with your purchases.
