1851-60, group of three covers incl. 1851 (24 April) entire from Zante to Great Britain discussing price
of currants to Plymouth endorsed “Via Trieste - Berlin & Ostend” showing a blue manuscript “3” for
local carriage but no legible cancel, Trieste cds on front, reverse with framed Wien, Berlin Bahnhof and
arrival date stamp (MY 4), and two 1860 entires from Zacynthos to the same addressee each endorsed
“via Trieste” bearing blue despatch double ring cds and both with handstamped ‘6’ charge levied at
Trieste, London transit and arrival backstamps.

1853 entire from Zante to Malta with blue scroll Zacynthos despatch cancel on reverse, fine double
oval accountancy marking on front in same ink which indicates prepayment of the Ionian charge,
indistinct “3”, endorsed “Via Syra” whose transit cds appears at right, red St Andrews pen cross also
indicating prepayment and red foreign fee handstamp bottom right, no arrival marking.

1856 entire to Patras, Greece with Cephalonia scroll despatch cancel at top, fine oval accountancy
marking in same ink which indicates prepayment of the Ionian charge, but no actual figure added on
this occasion, red crayon “10” (k) charge for shipping. An unusual occurrence.

1861-66 group of three covers incl. 1861 outer letter sheet bearing blue Georgio Marchetti Corfu
handstamp and embossing to Napoli but without any despatch marks, probably carried privately to
Trieste where a different agents handstamp applied, franked 15k. tied Trieste cds, endorsed “Via
Genova” with arrival backstamp, red rectangular Arrivo Napoli backstamp, large ‘25’ manuscript charge
on front, fine appearance; 1864 entire Zacynthos to Constantinople with despatch date stamp with
central dates inverted, partly overstruck by framed FRANCA indicating prepayment, red manuscript “2”
for local carriage “15” on reverse for ship’s charge, Lloyd Agenzia Constantinopel arrival backstamp,
and 1866 entire Zante to Trieste via Corfu, endorsed “Col vapore Austriaco”.

same ink which indicates prepayment of the Ionian charge with red manuscript “1”, blue oval FRANCA
indicating prepayment of ship’s charge, unclear blue Agenzia Lloyd arrival date stamp. After the issuing
of stamps in 1859 it was still possible to pay for postage in cash without affixing stamps.

1825-32 pair of covers with different types of Corfu Coat-of-Arms cachets, incl. 1825 outer letter
sheet to Santa Maura bearing a very fine larger oval royal handstamp on front, black scroll date stamp
on reverse of 7 July, front also showing a double black circle Santa Maura arrival mark not shown in
Zaphiriou, and 1832 internal Corfu entire bearing a fine strike of the small royal seal with red manuscript
“6” presumably for double rate inter island mail, black scroll dated backstamp, a scarce internal item.

dated September 22 with green “Isole Ionie” double circle and to left double circle “Isola di Santa
Maura” with manuscript 3/4 for incoming charge, the other to Zante with Isola Di Santa Maura despatch
handstamp with manuscript “3/4” outgoing charge, a fine matching pair
