1848-59 Post Paid 1d red on greyish, latest impression, top marginal vertical strip of four (pos.3, 6, 9,
12), good to very large margins elsewhere, on 1860 (Jan 8) wrapper from Port Louis to France, paying
the 4d rate for up to 1/2oz, tied by void barred ovals with “8” decimes charge in black below along
with “PAY ETR / V. SUEZ AMB.” transit, reverse with despatch, French Cette-Toulouse and Toulouse-
Bordeaux TPO transits and Bordeaux arrival, addressee surname excised and backed, a little ink
corrosion, and filing folds (one just affecting lower stamp), a scarce and attractive franking; cert. A.
