1872ca. 1d. bistre, 2d. bright blue, 4d. rose, 6d. blue-green, 10d. maroon and 1/- orange “set” of six

matching imprint blocks of 12 plate proofs from the foot of the sheet on thick glazed wove paper, overprinted

“Cancelled” (type d7), the odd trivial bends and surface marks though a beautiful and most desirable series

of blocks; very rare of which only one sheet of each value existed; ex “Adamastor” and “Port Louis”.

Note: The 3d. 9d and 5/- values never existed in this form and the absence of the imprint from the 10d.

block reflects the later manufacture of the plate for that value.

page pieces almost certainly from the Natal P.O. Archive, the 2c to 4c and 18c all showing identical “M”

flaw with dot in-between, the second set with large part o.g. and showing lovely fresh colour, very fine;

ex “Port Louis” (S.G. £150 for a set).
