S.G. 13

1861 Woodblock 1d vermilion used with crisp barred triangular obliterator, just about clear at lower left

otherwise fine to large margins, fresh colour, a very fine and attractive example; cert. Sismondo (2004)

and Pröschold (1984) (S.G. £3’250).

S.G. 13a

1861 Woodblock 1d carmine with 3 clear margins unused without gum, fresh colour, attractive and

extremely scarce in unused condition; cert. B.P.A (1978). The certificate states “creased” of which we

can see no evidence and “small surface marks” which are barely noticeable and are (in our opinion) tiny

natural paper flaws (S.G. £30,000 as mint).
