1840 1d. black pl.1b QB-QF, a superb mint horizontal strip of five, large part original gum, with good
to large margins all round (very close at upper right corner), though in no way detracting from the very
fine appearance of this rare multiple.

1840 1d black pl.1b RE-RH, two horizontal pairs (originally a strip of four) with huge margins (RH with
scissor cut very near frameline), showing a portion of two adjoining stamps at upper right, neatly tied
to small piece by very fine strikes of the red Maltese cross, a wonderfully fresh and most attractive
piece. Rare so fine.

good strikes of the red Maltese Cross, crease between HD-HE not detracting from the very fresh and
fine appearance of this very rare multiple.

1841 1d red-brown pl.2 from the “black” printing, four singles on lettersheet from Erme Bridge (Devon)
to London tied by red MCs, RA defective at right, ‘QL’ creased, endorsed ‘’(to) pay’’ and ‘’More to pay’’
handstamp. The lettersheet has been reduced at both sides and the stamps lifted and replaced (out of
position), extremely rare to have the red Maltese Cross on a multiple franking of the red printing from
the black plate (S.G. Spec AS17va, £24’000 for single on cover). Cert. RPS (2000).
