Settle: 1841 entire letter to settle, bearing 1840 1d. black, Pl. 10, RJ, with margins considerably
cut into at lower left and right, tied by black MC and pen cancel, forwarded to Halifax with 1d black
(FD) Pl.6 with 4 margins, and cancelled by distinct Settle MC. ‘’Settle FE 25 41’’ and ‘’Halifax FE 22
41’’ backstamps. The combination of plate 10, a distinct Settle MC and the redirection makes this a
particularly scarce and unusual cover. Cert B.P.A. (1998).

York: 1840 2d blue pl.2 in horizontal strip of six with clear to good margins at top and sides, just
touching in places a base, cancelled with six fine strikes of the York distinctive MC in black, small corner
crease on ‘RA’, repair above ‘RB’ and other small faults, a fine looking piece and a significant rarity. The
largest such multiple known with this Maltese Cross; ex Seymour.
