1893 Republic of Counani accumulation of issues from 1893 onwards, all imperf of various sizes and

values including a 10c pair with large part violet Postes/ Répu. Du Couna(ni)/ Liberté, also with a France

1886 10c Sage stationery card (two damaged corners) from Douai to Petropolis with a full example of

the handstamp on reverse. Counani was a disputed area between French Guiana and Brazil.

1894 Principality of Trinidad issue created by James Harden-Hickey who decreed ownership of a small

island, 700 miles out from Rio de Janeiro and created stamps to further his claims, seven different

values depicting ship in front of island, 25c and 1f hinged o.g. and others unused. His ownership of

the Island was never recognised and the British took it as a cable station, Harden-Hickey committing

suicide later in United States; some slight toning.
