1855-60, The Codina Collection of the local mail service of Havana overprints, an outstanding collection
of ten genuine covers with these iconic stamps showing the Y 1/4 overprints. The collection includes
three covers franked by very fine and well margined stamps, 1x Scott 6 (2r orange red on partial
front, one of only 4 to 5 usages known), 1x Scott 7 and 2x Scott 15. The other seven covers show fine
stamps with only slightly touched margins, including a rare Scott 5 (signed Doane 1938 and cert Carlos
Echenagusia Garcia), another Scott 5 on folded letter, a Scott 7 on fresh cover, another Sc.7 on cover
front and two Sc.15 (one bought at Soler y Llach auctions for 660€). In addition a very fine Scott 15 on
cover which we consider dubious. A unique opportunity to buy a collection of ten letters showing the
famous ”Correo Interior de la Habana” Y 1/4 surcharge.

1855-56, The Codina study lot of mint and used “Y 1/4” surcharge on the watermarked 2 reales stamp
used for the local mail service of Havana. This collection includes 44 stamps + 3 forgeries with many
interesting plate position. A number of stamps are very fine. To be noted a very rare Scott 5 in mint
o.g condition, a very rare combination Sc.5+7 on piece (Graus cert), a rare unused Sc.5 with Carlos
Echenagusia Garcia cert, an XF Sc.5 with variety displaced wmk and Garcia cert, Sc.7 scarce vertical
used pair with Comex cert, many interesting examples of Scott 7, the very rare combination Sc.6+8
both stamps VF on piece with Comex cert, several ex. of the scarce Scott 8. Seven certificates are
included.
