Kushanas, Magra, 4th century, AV dinar, 7.78 g. (19 mm). Obverse: king, standing facing, head with halo left, wearing
pointed decorated hat, chakra behind head, sacrificing over altar and holding staff with chakra on top, trident with
ribbons to left, with Brahmi inscription Magraor Mishra at right, and ga under the king’s arm. Reverse: Ardoksho
enthroned, facing, holding garland and cornucopia, tamgha left, Bactrian legend right.
About EF, underlying lustre shows through, very well-struck example of the rare Magra coin, showing the king
without the usual tall and pointed crown with decoration. Ex Chand Collection 1.8.12

wearing conical decorated hat, sacrificing over altar and holding staff, trident with ribbons to left, with Brahmi inscription
shaka at right, bhri under arm. Reverse: Ardoksho enthroned, facing, holding garland and cornucopia, tamgha left.
A coin from the uncertain Kushan late chronology, it is thought that Shaka was one of the last rulers of the Kushan Empire.
The different types of his coins are distinguished by variations in the Brahmi letter appearing under the king’s left arm.
