head, holding scepter, with Bactrian legend around ÞAONANOÞAO OOηÞKI KOÞANO, king of kings, Huvishka

Kushan. Reverse: Shaoreoro standing facing right, holding spear in right hand and resting shield on ground. Bactrian

legend to left PAPHO(PO) (Shaoreoro), tamgha to right, dotted border around.

About VF details, lightly cleaned, with attractive and well-struck reverse. Ex Chand Collection British Museum no 1.2.11

Kushanas, Vasudeva I, c. 190-230, AV dinar, 7.92 g. (21 mm). Obverse: Vasudeva with halo, helmet, and diadem,

clad in full armour, standing facing, head left, flames emanating from right shoulder, holding trident, sacrificing

over altar to left; Bactrian legend ÞAONANOÞAO BAZOΔHO KOÞANO (king of kings, Vasudeva Kushan). Reverse:

Oesho standing facing, holding a garland or diadem in extended right hand and trident in left; behind, the bull Nandi

standing left, Bactrian OHÞO to right, tamgha to upper left.

Fine, mostly legible, with very attractive details on the reverse, an additional lump of metal on obverse at 5 o’clock

VF+, mostly legible inscription and good details all round, a particularly attractive reverse with dark deposits that add

pleasing contrast; two minor edge scrapings at 5 o’clock that could indicate prior jewellery mounting, also a small
