Gupta Empire, Samudragupta, c. 335-375, AV dinar, 7.52 g. (21 mm). Obverse: Javelin type; king wearing royal tunic

with knotted belt standing, holding javelin with spearhead pointed down and sacrificing at altar, with Garuda standard

in left field, Brahmi Samudra below his left arm, circular Brahmi legend around beginning from 7 o’clock. Reverse:

nimbate goddess Lakshmi enthroned, holding diadem and cornucopia, Brahmi inscription at right, parakramah with

the h off the flan, tamgha left, dotted border around. Kumar, TOTGE 2024, Class II, B. Raven, SG/group 2. Very rae;

the obverse legend beginning from 7 o’clock is exceptional in this group.

VF, a somewhat crude strike from rusty die, flattening to high parts of relief, a few flan issues include a scraping to

metal at 1 o’clock position as well as some edge filing on reverse side, also minor edge crack at 9 o’clock. Ex Chand
