margins all round, neatly cancelled by good strikes of the black Maltese Cross, lovely fresh colour, a
superb and extremely rare exhibition piece.

1840 2d blue pl.1 FK-GL, a magnificent marginal inscriptional block of four from the right of the sheet,
showing “CE 2d. Per Label. 2/- Per Row of 12. £2…” in the margin, displaying superb rich colour and
almost full original gum, creased through the top margin just touching the impression as is usual from
multiples from the Dublin find, in no way detracting from the stunning appearance of this major line
engraved rarity; ex Harmer, 4 June 1941 auction, lot 69.
