Kushanas, Vasishka, c. 247-265, AV dinar, 7.83 g. (22 mm). Obverse: Vasishka, standing facing, head left, sacrificing
over altar and holding staff, Brahmi character between legs; trident with ribbon to left, Brahmi letters to right, Bactrian
inscription around ÞAONANOÞAO BAZH-ÞKO KOÞANO. Reverse: Oesho standing, facing, holding trident and
diadem, behind is the bull Nandi standing left, Bactrian OHÞO to right, tamgha left, within dotted border.
VF-EF, traces of edge filing on some areas, subdued lustre shows through. Ex Chand Collection British Museum no 1.3.24

The coins of Vasishka are notoriously hard to identify, with hardly any showing the complete name on the flan. We rely on
research conducted in the Department of Money and Medals at the British Museum for the identification of these coins.

Kushanas, Kanishka III, c. 267-270, AV dinar, 7.69 g. (22 mm). Obverse: king standing facing, head left, sacrificing over
altar and holding staff; trident to left, Bactrian inscription around. Reverse: Ardoksho enthroned with feet on lotus,
facing, holding cornucopia and diadem, Bactrian inscription to right, tamgha left, within dotted border.
We tentatively attribute this coin to Kanishka III, but these coins remain notoriously hard to identify (the website
Coinindia.com notes “no coins have yet been definitively attributed to Kanishka III“). We rely on research of the Chand
collection conducted at the British Museum for identification of this coin.
