Gupta Empire, Kumaragupta III, c. 530, AV dinar, 9.49 g. (20 mm). Obverse: Archer type, king with stacked curls
wearing long, pleated loin cloth, standing to front and stepping out to left, holding longbow in left hand, arrow in
right, between his feet is letter go or gre, Garuda standard at left, Brahmi legend ku below left arm with a crescent
above it, and Brahmi ta (?) between king’s feet. Reverse: nimbate Lakshmi seated with folded legs, facing on lotus with
legs crossed at ankles, holding diadem and long-stemmed lotus left, Brahmi legend to right srikramadityah, dotted
border around. Kumar, TOTGE, Class II. Raven, KG3/group 3. A very rare coin of heavy weight minted during the reign
of Kumaragupta III, the son of Narasimhagupta. Kumar, TOTGE 2024, notes 38 coins recorded. Raven notes 6-10
known with this particular design.
VF, struck with high relief on an attractive and thick circular flan, dark toning on both sides with some lustre showing
through, some light edge filing in places.

type, king with stacked, delicate curls , wasp waist, and stiff stance to front, standing left, wearing tailed tunic over
pleated loin cloth, holding longbow in left hand, arrow in right, standard with Garuda with halo at left, the circular
legend starts with parahitakari, ‘the benefator of others’, but the rest is not on the flan. Reverse: nimbate Lakshmi
seated facing with legs folded flat on lotus seat, holding double-coiled diadem and long-stemmed lotus left, tamgha
to left, Brahmi legend off the flan srivikrama-, part dotted border around. Kumar, TOTGE, p. 474. Raven, SRV/group 1.
VF, a die crack extends from the edge to the king’s waist
