Roman Republic, Ti. Veturius Gracchus, 137 BC, AR denarius 3.98 g. (19 mm). Obverse: draped and helmeted bust of
Mars right, TI VET (ligatured) behind. Reverse: ROMA above, oath-taking scene with youth kneeling left between two
soldiers, who touch with their swords a pig he holds in his arms. (RRC 234/1; Sydenham 527).
EF, superb, with excellent details on both sides and a pleasing patina with remnants of original lustre. Ex Jean Elsen,

About EF, lightly toned with good lustre coming through, excellent details with some weakness to reverse bottom.

VF-EF, with a few scratches to reverse, very attractive patina.
An extremely rare coin of the moneyer Lepidus who was later one of the triumviri with Octavian and Mark Antony
in the second triumvirate formally constituted in 43 BC. A similar example was sold in CNG, Triton XXVII, lot 594
(hammer $4250).
