female bust (Ceres?) facing right, wearing necklace and her hair in net (saccus) and decorated with poppies, bird
control mark to left. Reverse: upright winged caduceus; CEST EX • S • C downward to left, M PLAETORI downward
to right. Sydenham 806, Crawford 405/3b.
The bird control mark in obverse left field is extremely rare and only two coins with this control mark have been
found on Coinarchives.
About EF, with attractive old cabinet tone over lustrous metal and excellent details, struck slightly off-centre.

AR denarius 3.67 g. (19 mm). Obverse: CAESAR•IMP, wreathed head of Julius Caesar right, eight-pointed star behind.
Reverse: SEPVLLIVS-MACER, Venus Victrix standing facing, head left, Victory left in right hand, scepter set on star in
left. Crawford 480/5b. Sydenham 1071.
The famous coin struck about a month before Caesar’s assassination, with an attractive and finely-detailed realistic
portrait style.
EF, with an attractive dark cabinet toning, a slight dig in the laurel wreath. Ex Baldwin’s; Spink 39, 1984, lot 2

IMP CAESAR - DIVI F III VIR ITER R P C, bare head of Octavian to right, with trimmed beard. Reverse: COS ITER ET TER
DESIG, simpulum, sprinkler, jug and lituus. Crawford 538/1.
A rare coin of a type that usually appears in very worn condition.
VF-EF, very well-struck with a strong, early portrait of Octavian and fully legible obverse legend, despite struck slightly
off-centre, nicely toned.
