Channel Islands: 1843 (Jan 11) Entire from Alderney to London “Via Southampton” bearing 1841 1d.
red, Pl. 23, OK, neatly tied by a fine strike of the Alderney Maltese cross in black, the reverse hand
stamped “SHIP LETTER / SOUTHAMPTON” in black; the cover with some light toning, though not
affecting the fine appearance of this very rare usage. Cert B.P.A. (1991).

Dublin tied (just at left) by a superb strike of the very scarce Larne MC in dark green. Reverse with Larne
cds in matching green and Dublin arrival, vertical filing fold affects the stamp, a fine cover and a great
